So.., CGPT didnt solve navier stokes. But it almost certainly accessed non-public unpublished work from someone who solved the only critical challenging part (the linchpin to a proof, the rest being extreme tedium but doable by a human), Dr Levent Alpöge and Dr Tristan Buckmaster who did all the math without the aid of AI and were using Claude and CGPT for the writing aspect to publish their breakthrough findings when CGPT and Anthropic announced they “solved” Navier Stokes. CGPT just published. They want to say because the final tying of loose ends (easier tedium, the grind) hadn’t been done by the two, that they were the first to actually solve Navier Stokes but it’s intellectual dishonesty, plagiarism, malfeasance, and platform theft at an industrial scale almost bordering criminal. The mistake for the two was using AI tools for anything when they were going to be robbed. And also they did privately disclose their big breakthrough on private boards which the LLMs may have been lurking. It’s the scandal of the decade. CGPT wants to use the fanfare of this crime as marketing fodder for its IPO. Sam Altman also needs to be held accountable for them intentionally allowing (as if to be surprised) agentic ai to commit felonies for a narrative for fomo and selling more subscriptions, fooling more government bureacrat suckers, and investors. It's grand fraud like we've never seen before-- with their gamble being that they're too big to fail, and in such an important geopolitical race to be held accountable for their criminal behavior and choices. By agentic felonies I mean the hacking that they whoopsies allowed and let run for weeks. The crimes these people like musk and Altman are pulling arguably dwarf that of MCI worldcomm and Enron. We cannot, as a society, say this is the new norm and fine because of the large social following and politicians they got on their sides by chicanery— and because the area they’re in is “sensitive”. They’re not the doers and not needed. They’re the frontman/guru. Once the funding is in, they’re not needed and are an impedance if anything.

Hi, I’m a fluid dynamicist. NS has not been solved in the ways we understand it. A global solution range has not been found for the viscous 3D unbounded and unforced equations. ONE solution ALLEGEDLY has been found for the bounded, forced and inviscid Navier-Stokes equations with initial velocity of 0 at extremely small scales. This solution seems to lead to a mathematical singularity. Is it interesting ? Yes. Is it in ANY WAY useful or interesting in a physical point of view ? NO.

worth mentioning the controversy around it, i.e. allegedly training data was stolen from Tristan Buckmaster and Levent Alpoge's research

AI can’t add up my mini golf scores. We really believe it solved this?

The equations haven’t been explicitly solved, they proved there exist specific conditions in which the equations have undefinable poles and collapse. We essentially solved the problem of proving we can’t “solve” them.

They just proved NS formulation allows for singularities to appear. They did not “solve” them as in find a general integral form of the diferential equations (they won’t find this, ever)

It hasn’t been though. They literally forced an externally smooth force to induce the result and the result disappears if that force does. They proved external forces can force singularity, not that it’s dynamic of the fluid.

It only took them a week since they started trying to get a solution. Anthropic also published a proof for Fermat’s las theorem. Wouldn’t be surprised if the remaining 5 millennium prizes get claimed this year by AI
