@leshavenranch: Training Ducky, our born blind 3 yr old how to pick up feet and be ready for farrier. She has had issues with the farrier and would fight through it. So before we get her feet done, I had to build that trust and bond with her before training and picking up her feet. Now that it’s built, it’s easier to train her as she has learned to trust me. This is how I train all of our blind horses how to pick up their feet and stand quietly for a farrier or anyone working with their feet. If the trust and bond was not built, it would be more stressful and a lot longer training session. Again, as I said before, I’m no professional horse trainer. This is all based on 15 yrs experience with blind horses. If y’all have better ways that have worked for you with BLIND horses please share!
