On a paper blotter, I immediately get a very strong burst of rose-forward florals. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but thankfully it settles down fairly quickly into a softer, more subtle floral scent. On my skin, the experience is much different. The opening floral isn’t nearly as strong and the rose isn’t as dominant as it is on the blotter. My skin chemistry definitely changes the fragrance. I also notice a tangy note on my skin that I don’t really get from the paper. One thing that surprised me is the marketing. Glimmer is described as having a gourmand twist along with fruity facets, but I personally don’t pick up either. I was hoping for some sweetness or edible warmth from the gourmand notes, but I don’t detect that at all. I also don’t notice any distinct fruity notes. The bottle is beautiful. It has a modern look, feels substantial in the hand, and has a nice weight that gives it a luxurious feel. Some thing that made this fragrance a little difficult to evaluate was the note breakdown. As I was researching Glimmer, I found several different note listings depending on the website or source. That made it confusing to know what I should actually be looking for in the fragrance. Rather than focusing on the notes I read about, I ended up going with what I personally experienced while wearing it—and for me, it remained a predominantly rose-leaning floral without the gourmand sweetness or noticeable fruity nuances that I was expecting Overall, Glimmer is a pleasant fragrance, but it doesn’t stand out to me. It comes across as a fairly straightforward rose-leaning floral. I’ll wear it from time to time, but it’s not one that I see myself reaching for very often.
