Once I read The denial of death from Ernst Becker, and some how he convinced me about existential crisis of human being. The fact that we are aware of our dying is so incomfortable that we chase distractions and try to fight this distinctive phenomena. All religions, all human effort is kind of to survive for eternity, at least our legacy, our children, our art, our architecture, nation and culture what ever. somehow we all know none of it matters and we are going to die and can not take any of it with us. But as you say those who don't want to dig deep and are happy at the surface, religious belief and some other idealogy or maybe the comfort of secularism is enough for them. It's very hard to unsee once you see the backend, kind of you see and read the code and cannot create connection with them. It is a very long time ago that I have hang out with someone and had a meaningful conversation because there is no one to talk to.

Our entire civilization is made up. All of it. Street signs, courts, nations, colleges, laws, etc. So I agree with you that life is absurd. Trying to narrow down a point is absurd. Is there one? No one really knows, not living anyway. We have two basic purposes. We are here to reproduce and survive. That's just my opinion. Now, we constantly distract ourselves. Most don't realize that's what they are doing. Watching sports, gaming, chasing careers, traveling, watching movies, all of that. It's completely a distraction. Now, I don't think that's bad, but it is what it is. One day, humanity won't exist, and will any of this matter? We stress, chase careers, go to college, etc. All that, just to die one day. Which, to me, is freeing. I hope you find your way.

i think that jesus gave us permission to just exist we don't need permission to walk the earth we are allowed to just observe. at the end it all might be a simulation so just be. someone once said your soul chose this life, the difficulty the easy the good the bad.
