I immediately disagree with the idea that all nerds are shy, awkward, and incapable of understanding human interaction. I am not shy or awkward, but I am absolutely obsessed with certain subjects. Nerds are people who get excited about things. There are gamer nerds, music nerds, computer nerds, history nerds, sports nerds you name it. Nerdery isn’t really about being socially awkward; it’s about the depth of your enthusiasm and dedication to whatever makes your brain light up. So when I say I wanted to date a nerd, I don’t mean I had some fantasy about a socially inept guy who couldn’t make eye contact. 😂 I mean I wanted someone who was deeply passionate about something. I don’t have to understand the thing you’re excited about. I want to see your face light up when you talk about it. I want you to know weird little facts that nobody asked for. I want you to be genuinely delighted by something simply because you love it. Because in a world where everyone is trying so hard to look cool and unbothered, there’s something incredibly attractive about a person who is willing to care too much about something. That’s the kind of nerd I mean.

Everyone is a nerd about something. Jocks are nerds about sports. Fantasy football is sports version of dnd. I think there are slight differences - nerd vs geek vs dork

I was the first person in my high school that needed to get the debate team coach and the wrestling coach to negotiate practice times for me bc neither was about to let me off the team over a scheduling issue. debate moved to directly after school, wrestling stayed at its normal 4-8pm 6x a week bc Coach Castle doesnt negotiate.
