@russellruffino: There are people who already said yes to you once, sitting in a list you're too embarrassed to email. You know the feeling. You've been away too long, so writing now feels like turning up at somebody's door after months of nothing, holding a casserole and an explanation. So the email never gets written. Or worse, it gets written as an apology. Two paragraphs about where you've been, how life got busy, how you're back and this time it'll be different. Comment EMAILS and I'll send you the prompt. Nobody wants that email. It asks them to care about your absence before you've given them one reason to care about anything. They aren't sitting there wounded. They got busy too. Their problem moved. They changed jobs, had a baby, forgot your name, and would remember it in half a second if you gave them something worth reading. Which is the actual bar. Not a comeback. Something useful, from somebody they trusted enough once to hand over an email address. A number only you know: how many months since you emailed that list? No judgment, and the number isn't the point. Mine was over a year once. The list isn't dead. It's unattended.
