It seems that when a person becomes great and respected after their death different countries start claiming them as their own Jalal aldin Balkhi known as Rumi is a perfect example he was born in Balkh Afghanistan however because the historical regions of presentday Afghanistan and Iran were once part of the broader cultural and political world of Khorasan Iran also claims him as part of its cultural heritage Turkey claims him because he migrated to Anatolia spent most of his life there and died in Konya he is also known as “Rumi” because he lived in the lands that were historically referred to as Rum When a person is considered bad or however nobody seems interested in claiming them they simply associate that person with the place where they were born I think great historical figures should be understood through the history of their time rather than being claimed according to the borders of modern countries😁
