@gouki260z: $2.50 DIY PARTS CLEANER vs. DECADES OF GRIME Part 2 of the $2.50 parts cleaner experiment. The goal was simple: clean this old L-series triple-carb intake manifold in under 60 seconds. Yeah… that didn’t happen. 💀 Actual rushed cleaning time: 3:07. After about 10 minutes of proper cleaning, though, the manifold came out dramatically better. The mix: 24 oz diesel + 8 oz painter’s solvent = 32 oz Best results aren’t from panic scrubbing like I did here. Spray it on, give the grease a few minutes to soften, then brush and wipe it down. This works best as a heavy grease/oil cleaner for compatible bare metal parts. It’s not a do everything chemical and can leave an oily residue, so use a proper final cleaner before paint, sealant, brakes, or contamination-sensitive assembly. Flammable. Use ventilation, gloves, eye protection, and keep it away from heat, sparks and flames. Test questionable surfaces first. Clean parts. Bad ideas. Real experiments. What about instead of gasoline, replace it with diesel?

I always used gasoline. It works great just no open flames
