🚨Handling a smelly breath chat👇 💌 Every week I send free scenario based tips to my email community. To join go to missclairebenjamin.com/opt-in-newsletter Speaking to someone about bad breath is an uncomfortable conversation for most people and sometimes a necessary one particularly if you have received complaints or someone is customer facing. There can be many reasons, including health and dental reasons, why someone’s breath may smell, so a conversation like this must be handled respectfully and sensitively from a place of care. Often people won’t get subtle hints so it also needs addressing directly which means tolerating short term discomfort. Here are 3 steps I would recommend: 1️⃣ Ask their permission to speak to them about something sensitive. This is respectful 2️⃣ Be respectful and stick to the facts. Lead with care. For example: “I know it can be difficult to notice these things in ourselves, so I wanted to bring something to your attention. I’ve noticed that sometimes your breath has a strong smell. So I firstly want to check that everything’s ok?” 3️⃣ Be supportive and reassuring- we want to minimise shame in situations like this This is also a conversation that needs careful consideration about whether it needs to be had or not. 💬 Have you ever had this conversation? Please share your experiences in the comments so we can learn from each other 👀 📌 Please remember the advice offered in this video is generalised. You know your situation better than anyone else so trust your instincts, if this doesn’t fit your situation ignore it. You’ve got this 💪 💾 Save this for when you might need it ✈️ Share with someone who needs to hear this 🚀 Follow for more tips on handling tricky people and situations at work #worktips #leadershipdevelopment #work #corporatelife #emotionalintelligence #difficultconversations #communicationskills #managertips #manager
