@thenightshiftdad: Night shift doesn’t always give you less time. Sometimes it just breaks your time into pieces that never really feel like they belong to you. Before work feels like a countdown. After work feels like recovery. And somehow you’re supposed to build a life in between. Night shift- does your free time actually feel free? #nightshiftdad #worklife #nightshift #thirdshift #nightshiftlife

definitely not.. there's days I get mad at myself for being "lazy" but then I think about my days. I get out at 730 then my 2nd job till 10 I got to let the dogs out I finally get home around 11 if I'm lucky I'll get 3hrs of sleep then the kids are home time for all the "normal" mom stuff. if I'm lucky I'll get another hour nap before work just do it all over again..

Finally got a job working overnights. Always been naturally nocturnal. I love it. Hated mornings cuz I’m not a morning person and afternoons make me feel like they take the entire day. However, people in my life also think I just have the whole day to relax or get things done, like I don’t also need to sleep.

my aunt became annoyed with me when she found out I sleep during the day after and before my 12 night shift (7pm to 7am). she told me I need to get a second job (day job) so I can make more money and not be so lazy. I asked her if I were to get a day job would she get a night job? she said that was ridiculous and not the same thing. i literally had to draw, with pen and paper, my shifts and accumulated hours. then I had to show her how many hours I would work with a day and night job in addition to how many consecutive days I would have to stay awake to achieve that. it was grueling but I finally got her to see why I sleep during the day.

I work night shift or as I like to call it graveyards. I get off at 7 AM and I go home and I go to bed unless I have something that I have to do during the day and then I don’t go to sleep until like around noon. Then I sleep until about seven or 8 o’clock at night. My day is already done then I have to go into work and work my shift. It’s a rinse and repeat I don’t feel like I ever get enough sleep or any time during the day to do anything that I need to do that can only be done during the day like going to the bank or going grocery shopping or even paying my City bill because I have to conform to their hours which cuts into my sleep time. Then just for example I work Wednesday, Thursday, Friday graveyards, then I have Saturday off then I have to go back in Sunday. I have one day. One day that I will sleep the entire day and then get up and still stay on that Night Shift schedule so I’m not sleepy for the next shift

You're not the only one man. It is like having a huge swath of empty time, but you have to chop it up a little pieces to make it all work for everything you would like to do, and still go back to work that night.

Im a husband and a Dad, I love them so much cause they understand, that why I do what I do…. Cause I grind it out to spend with time with them, even if means I get 2-3 hours before I go back in at 10pm, going in at midnight was alot better, believe it or not those two hours are a big difference, cause then I can stay up till 9pm, wale up at 11:30 and clocking at midnight…. Ask me if I get tired…. Naw cause I love this shit….

And when you work overnights and you are a bus rider, you sit forn45 minutes on property before you can clock in. The morning when you clock out means up.to a 1 hour wait for the bus to go home. and the busses are 30 minutes on the short ride. that is up to 3 hours just commuting.
