For context, this was a demo project I worked on back in 2021. It involved installing an ESP32 inside the CIU and using a custom mobile app to communicate with it over BLE. The approach wasn't really scalable because it required opening the CIU and physically connecting the ESP32 to the keypad. There's a significant risk of damaging the device if it's not done carefully. There are also legal concerns since the CIU belongs to KPLC, meaning you could be held liable for any damage.
