@anxiouslyalej: Sometimes another man will do more for you and your children than your ex-husband ever did while you were married. I got an invitation to a client’s wedding this month, and she gave me permission to tell you this story. Her ex-husband could be everything to everyone except a present father and husband in his own house. When she asked him to spend a Saturday at the park or at Costco with his own family, he said, no man wants to spend his Saturday doing those things. Then she found the messages, and what hurt her most wasn’t the infidelity with his secretary. It was that his secretary had an issue with her car on a weekend and he drove across town and spent half the day fixing it. After they separated, she’s at IKEA with her daughter and they bump into her daughter’s old soccer coach. He helps them to the car, gives her his number, and ends up building the entire desk. When her daughter remembers the things they forgot and my client says, I can’t be super mom, he goes back to IKEA on a Saturday, the busiest day of the week, and leaves a lamp and curtains on her porch with a sticky note that says you are super mom. They’re engaged now. When a man tells you no man wants to do these things, he is telling you what he won’t do for you. He does not speak for the rest of the male population. So if you’re divorced with children and you’ve been told you won’t find a good man, let this be the story you think of instead. I have never met a single mom who didn’t have men constantly throwing themselves at her.
