Replying to @Elizabeth, EMDR Therapy Texas If you are creating a resource around a specific fear, start by getting really clear on the trigger. What specifically is difficult for the client? What are they afraid will happen? When is the moment they are most afraid? Then ask what they would like to feel, believe, or be able to access in that moment instead. From there, look for a resource that represents that quality. Has there been a time they have felt that way themselves? Have they seen that quality in someone else? Is there a symbol, like something in nature, an animal, or something else that represents it? Once you have the resource, help them step into the experience and notice what they see, hear, feel, smell, and notice in their body. Then use short, slow sets of bilateral stimulation to enhance it and pair the resource with a cue word or phrase. And you do not have to stop with one resource. With something like fear of flying, there may be different triggers along the way, and you can build different resources based on what the client needs at those different points. That is one of the things I love about RDI. It can be very specific to the client and the situation in front of you and there is an unlimited amount of resources you can build. #emdr #emdrtherapist #emdrtraining #rdi #emdrtips
