My native American language teacher showed me this interview a few years ago. As a native I think of this interview every time I try to explain my beliefs. I believe in the ground, the trees, the coyote, the bear, the river, and the fish. We all play our part in the universe. White man made us forget our place among each other. We are not a “greater species”, we all exist on this earth together. Everything has a life, a spirit, and a purpose. We don’t need institutions, we need nature.

this is how i was raised by my mom. in comparison to Christianity with my dad in his home. Native beliefs are so much more comforting and actually make sense without throwing some random words at you and scaring kids by eternal damnation.
