marlisa :
As my final act of loving you, I think I will keep loving you in the only way I still can, quietly and from afar. I will continue to mention your name in my prayers every day, even when I have to fight the urge to reach out and ask how you are. There will be days when missing you feels unbearable, when every part of me wants to run back to you, wrap my arms around you, and hold you as tightly as I can. I miss the warmth of your embrace, the quietness I felt when I was close to you, and the strange sense of peace that came with simply being held by you. But no matter how much I miss it, I know I have to teach myself not to run toward you anymore.
I will still be here, quietly supporting you from a distance, even if you never know that I am. I will pray that you are doing well, that you are taking care of yourself, that you are eating properly, resting enough, and finding little reasons to smile in the middle of ordinary days. I will celebrate your happiness silently, even if I am no longer someone who gets to be part of it. Perhaps this is the hardest part of letting someone go, knowing that you can still love them deeply while accepting that you no longer have the right to reach for them.
And if life is kind enough to let our paths cross again someday, I hope I will have the courage to look at you without wanting to hold on. I hope I can see you again and quietly make sure that you are healthy, safe, and genuinely happy. I do not know what we will be to each other by then, or whether you will still remember the warmth we once shared the way I do. But I hope that when I see you, I will be able to smile and feel grateful instead of broken, knowing that the person I once loved so deeply is doing well.
Until that day comes, I will keep choosing distance, even when my heart begs me to do the opposite. I will keep my hands to myself when all I want is to reach for you, and I will swallow the words I desperately want to send. Maybe this is what my final act of love has to look like. Not asking you to come back, not asking you to wait, and not finding another excuse to be close to you, but loving you quietly enough to let you go. I will carry your name into my prayer
