For the longest time I thought finding the “right” jeans was mostly about size. Like… if the jeans buttoned, zipped, and were my size, why did one pair look FIRE and another pair make me feel like I was on the struggle bus? 🚌 Turns out, size is only part of the equation. The silhouette of the jeans matters too. Once I started understanding more about body proportions, fit, visual balance, and how different jean shapes interact with different body types — it made so much more sense. An oval (aka apple) shape may need something different from denim than a pear shape. An inverted triangle may want more visual weight on the bottom. An hourglass may want a silhouette that follows the body while highlighting the waist.👖 And a rectangle might use the shape of the jeans to create more dimension. Now, that doesn’t mean “You have THIS body type, so you can NEVER wear those jeans.” (Because, absolutely not.) Think of body-type recommendations as a starting point, especially if you’ve been wondering why certain jeans seem to work better than others. 👉🏾 Because once you understand what jeans are doing to your proportions, you can decide whether you want to balance them, emphasize them, or ignore the traditional advice and create a different effect on purpose. ➡️ And THAT’s the difference between following fashion rules and learning how to style yourself. Follow @stylemaxdes for more practical style tips that help you understand WHY clothes work — so you can get better at styling yourself. 💅🏾 #jeansoutfit #denimstyle #styletips #styledaily #fashiontips
