@anatomy.of.motion: If you want to focus on training your biceps but whenever you do standard curls you feel unpleasant tension in the front of your shoulder capsule, or maybe even pain there, there is a nice workaround you can use. This tension comes from insufficient control in the muscles that connect your scapula and humerus from the back. For a long-term solution they need some dedicated work to keep your shoulder capsule happy while curling, but as a short-term one you can just change the position in which you perform the curl. Try sitting on an inclined bench with your arms hanging freely under gravity. In that position the weight of the dumbbell and your arm itself pull your shoulder into the socket, keeping it stable by design. No extra stabilisation is needed from the shoulder external rotators, which keeps the front of your shoulder capsule happy while your shoulder stabilizers are not yet fully rehabilitated. #biomechanics
