To everyone who has mocked or celebrated the death of Charlie Kirk, I genuinely don’t understand how we got to a point where someone’s death has become something to celebrate simply because we disagreed with their political beliefs. I’m a Republican, and I’m not going to pretend I agree with everyone on the other side of the political spectrum because I don’t, but I also believe political disagreement should never take away our ability to see someone as a human being. Charlie Kirk was a father, a son, and a human being who had people who loved him. You don’t have to agree with anything he said, support his politics, or even like him, but mocking someone’s death or celebrating the fact that they were killed crosses a line. And honestly, I would hope that if the situation were reversed and a Democrat or someone on the opposite side of the political spectrum were assassinated, Republicans would have enough compassion to recognize that a human life was lost. Political affiliation should not determine whether we have empathy for someone. We are never going to agree 100% on everything, and we aren’t supposed to. Freedom means being able to have different beliefs, speak your mind, and disagree with one another without dehumanizing each other. You can strongly dislike someone’s beliefs and still recognize that they didn’t deserve to die. So no, I’m not going to stay quiet about people celebrating or mocking his death. I think it’s wrong, and I will stand by that regardless of what political side someone is on. Rest in peace, Charlie. You were taken far too soon. ❤️🙏🏼 And to anyone reading this, I hope we can all choose a little more kindness, compassion, and humanity. We need less hatred, less dehumanizing each other, and more love. I pray that God brings peace to this country and reminds us that we can disagree without becoming cruel to one another.
