yes all of us young parents have children that come with conditions its the way of 2026 where we nit pick all the "mistakes" our parents made and do the complete opposite but in reality were just loading ourselves with more unnecessary pressure and were barely cooping [Tears of joy][Tears of joy][Tears of joy]

I was over my mum’s house and my two year-old screamed out Yiayia I want ice cream and I said no and my mum said no this is my house my rules and if he wants ice cream, I’ll let him have ice cream. I was like okay.

i think ipad screen time is different to regular TV screentime. The short reels are the big issue.

I’m a screen time parent - it gives my wife and I a chance to get stuff done 😂😂 but rules are rules, if your son/daughter has rules for their kids then that’s the rules - follow them

Tv shows are not made the same. Now they are so overstimulating, lots of flashing lights. Maybe ask if some of the old school tv shows are allowed

I think it’s a matter of “when you know better, you do better”. There are many things parents in the 80s and 90s did that we now know negatively impact children’s development and wellbeing. It sounds to me like your son is a well informed and intelligent parent who is trying to make good choices for his child. That’s a complete reflection on you and how he was raised - bravo to you both! Try to reframe your thinking around it being a restriction, rather a nice treat for you both to share. It takes a village!

Yes when my parents or in-laws watch the kids we do have a rule…it’s their rules, don’t call and ask me, whatever u decide is fine 💗 and yes there have been times when my kids have been on iPads all day & yes I don’t like it & shut up, but if the grandparents couldn’t help I would have such a bigger issue! My kids absolutely love their time with their grandparents 💗 it’s the love that counts
