@cocoonandcradle: If you're sitting up in bed to feed overnight, or getting up and going to another room at 3am... this one's for you. 🤍 I see it constantly. And I saw it again just this week with a mum of a two-week-old. Every single night, she was getting out of bed, going to the lounge, and sitting upright in the recliner to feed. Over and over, all night long. And she was so exhausted that she'd started falling asleep in the recliner by accident. Here's the part that really matters: falling asleep on a couch or a recliner is actually far more dangerous than falling asleep in your own bed, on a firm mattress, set up safely. So think about which one gets you more rest. Getting out of bed, changing the nappy, going to the lounge, sitting in the recliner, feeding, going back to bed, then transferring your baby and praying they don't wake? Or... staying lying down, sliding your baby close, popping out a boob, feeding, and both of you barely even waking? When we got her set up to feed lying down in bed, safely, she said the exact thing I hear every single time: "this is going to be a game-changer." Because now, instead of hauling herself out of bed all night, she rests. And because her bed is set up safely, if she does drift off, she's in a far safer place than that recliner ever was. That's the bit no one tells you. Done properly, it's not just more restful. It's often safer than the exhausted-in-a-recliner situation so many of us end up in by accident. I'm covering exactly how to do all of this in my breastfeeding lying down series right now, the intro and setup are up, and the latch is next. Follow along so you don't miss it. But tell me first, where do you feed your baby overnight? Sitting up, getting out of bed, or lying down? I'd love to know. 👇 #breastfeeding #ibclc #sidelyingfeeding #safesleep #cosleeping

My 3week old sleeps in a bassinet in our spare room with my husband. When he wakes, my husband does the nappy change, then brings him in to me, (I do the laid back feed), once I’m done my husband takes him back to his room for burping and bed. We started sleeping in separate rooms during pregnancy so I could get a good sleep. Postpartum I’ve struggled with PND and PNA, with major sleep deprivation, so this system is working for us and allows me to get a fully rested sleep. I’m so interested in the sidelying but way to anxious to try

My little boy has reflux and side feeding just doesn’t work for us unfortunately so we are sitting up to feed all through the night x

Literally do everything in bed! Change, feed, put back to sleep etc. if I home during the day best believe I’m laying down to feed!

I tried side lying nursing but I fall asleep everytime within not even 1 min and I was pretty uncomfortable 😭 I sit up in bed during nighttime feedings and thankfully my 2 month old has only been getting up 2-3 times a night so i'm not too tired:) my bed has a memory foam mattress topper (it's much more comfortable for my husband and I) so it's not necessarily safe for cosleeping

With M cups I would suffocate him any other way than sitting up, football hold. I wish I could do sidelying

I normally lay down, but in the beginning I sat up in bed, but my baby (9weeks) has started taking my bare nip with no nipple sheild, so I have to set back up because my nips are SO sore 😂
