I wouldn’t really call it stolen work 100%. Since if the idea was the same, why didn’t Tristan and company immediately apply the idea to Navier-Stokes right away if the idea from their Euler soln can be extended to Navier-Stokes. The literature of Martınez and Cordoba was the shoulder of the giant OpenAI relied on.

The fact that they cannot rule out that their LLMS used training data gathered by the independent researchers speaks by itself. Its just a bit scummy that they decided to swoop in and take the spotlight, from the two independent researchers. theres a difference between throwing a 10,000 ai model swarm at a problem and a mathematician using ai as an assistant.
