Yep. I used to qualify for free lunch and I was able to get fasfa for community college. My single mother who made $32k/year raising three kids got a raise to 37k and we didn’t qualify for anything anymore. That $5k “raise” actually put us further into debt cause now we have no help, inflation was ramping up (still is and it’s not sustainable), and after trying to balance a new budget, she had to take the $10k she saved up out of the emergency account just to feed us. Mind you, she paid in taxes less than what we received in benefits. Now pays more in taxes, no benefits and went further into debt. There’s also parents who make their kids do taxes before 18…that’s unconstitutional, as these kids cannot vote and have ZERO representation.

My town stopped charging kids for school lunch after the pandemic and has continued to give every kid free school lunches. Sone of the best use of my tax money I can think of.

The system is broken. The children are our future. Living in America, no child should ever go hungry. Bringing kids into adult situations is never a good idea.

The worst thing about it, people have been fired, prosecuted, and gotten in trouble for trying to donate money to pay off school children’s lunches. And another thing, some of these lunches are garbage. They get to the kids plates and they’re already rotten. 😡😡😡

And why should you be paid forced to go to a place that you can’t afford to be if you have to go to school and it’s a mandatory thing but you can’t afford lunch that doesn’t make sense. You even get free food in prison, but a kid can’t get free school food.

No ppl get arrested for stealing food they can’t afford. It’s insane that my family qualifies for snap but not health insurance. We don’t make enough for food but enough for our medical bills 🤦🏻♀️the whole world sucks

My mom would make me one hotdog for lunch everyday. My school had a massive ant problem. So when I would open my lunch box and it was full of ants eating my hotdog, my teacher would give me a voucher for free lunch that day. Everyday I wished for ants 🙏

Wealthiest country in the world. The rest of the world no matter how poor provide free food for all children no matter the parents income! The food is also freshly cooked everyday. No packages stuff. This is a disgrace. 😢🥵

I would never ever agree with passing anything that would deny food to any child. Some kids go to school just for that reason. Don’t deny food to kids. Ever.
