I high recommend using BMDCA or your regional club when choosing your next breeder. An ethical breeder should be socializing your puppy to the car and to grooming before you get him. You shouldn’t necessarily have to do the initial training with it, only reinforcing it. An ethical breeder also typically gives you 30-60 days of pet insurance. I think a true reputable breeder would be such a great resource for you. Ethical breeders also are not breeding pica, none of my well bred dogs are constantly eating things because they breed it out of the lines.

Please do a part 2! We have a 3 and a half month old bernese and he’s jumping off furniture, scared to go down the stairs, we also are thinking of pet insurance but not sure which one to get

Yes part 2 -we are on the journey of getting a Bernie’s mountain dog as well and have heard. They are very expensive! I had very expensive husky malamute so I’m ready.

I will absolutely not be getting a puppy until my newf is over 2. They can still get littermate syndrome as puppies which is under 2 for berners and newfs.

Our guy is 2+ and we’re thinking of adding another Berner in the spring…are we crazy? I was so exhausted and overwhelmed at times but it has also been an AMAZING 2 years full of love!
