If they had a way to make them more efficient, an electric powertrain would make sense here. The problem is the heat and the varying loads, both of which would affect battery charge a lot more than it will affect diesel engines. I feel like Edison could do some serious research on Australian trucking. With the right tech, it would be easy money.
