@drbombchell: I think a lot about how many things we excuse in little boys because they’re little, and then act surprised when those same habits show up in grown men. . So much of parenting them, for me, is remembering that I’m not only responding to the little boy standing in front of me. I’m also helping shape the man he’ll eventually become. . I’m not raising “good little boys”. I’m raising men who will one day be somebody’s friend, coworker, partner, neighbor — and I get to practice with them now. . That doesn’t mean expecting adult behavior from a child. It just means knowing that consideration, respect, responsibility and empathy don’t magically appear as they grow up. . They start learning those things here, in all these tiny everyday moments. . They’re little now.
