Today we celebrate 13 years of marriage. ❤️ It has truly been a joy to be married to you. When we stood at the altar and promised each other “in sickness and in health,” neither of us imagined that the “in sickness” part of our vows would come so soon. The last five months have completely rocked our world. They’ve been the hardest months of our lives, but they’ve also taught me so much. One thing I’ve learned is how important it is who you choose to marry. You never know when your spouse will become your full-time caregiver, advocate, and biggest source of strength or when you will become theirs. Over the last 13 years, we’ve made so many memories together. Looking back now, I realize just how precious those memories really are. The everyday moments with our family are now some of the things I cherish the most. Also, how important it is to not wait until you’re older to take the vacations. You are not promised tomorrow. These last five months have been the most defining months of our marriage. We’ve had to be each other’s rocks through circumstances we never saw coming. We’ve cried together, prayed together, and held on to each other when life felt impossible. This journey has completely changed the way I think about life and what is truly important. I regret all the silly fights and all the times I was selfish and ungrateful. I just wish it hadn’t taken a terminal illness to teach me those lessons. Every single day, I am thankful that we are both still here together. Thankful for another day, another memory, another conversation, another laugh, and another chance to say “I love you.” I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know that I am incredibly grateful that God had us cross paths 20 years ago at OBU and for every one of the last 13 years being married to you. ❤️
