@mouthy.money.news: Here is the part that surprises people. Sacrifice 5% of an £80,000 salary and you save £80 a year in National Insurance. Do the same on £28,000 and you save £112. Employee National Insurance drops from 8% to 2% above £50,270, so the higher earner gets less out of it in actual cash. That is also why the people on £45,000 to £50,000 lose the most when the £2,000 cap lands in April 2029. HMRC counts 7.7 million people using salary sacrifice for pensions. 3.3 million of them go over the cap. right now its an incentive for workplaces to offer salary sacrifice so a lot do and add into your pension on top because they save
this is going to stop that so workers are going to loose NI on pensions contributions AND probably loose the additional %that employers are putting in because now they have to pay NI like normal
