@phoenixpathway: Emotional Retaliation Makes Holding Boundaries Expensive If holding a boundary or saying no results in him suddenly withdrawing affection, effort, or cooperation in completely unrelated areas, he is using subtle punishment to control you. Passive aggressive retreat and deliberate unhelpfulness are strategies designed to make exercising your autonomy feel too costly. Do not trade your valid boundaries for temporary peace by backing down. Hold your ground firmly, and address his petty withdrawal as a separate issue of retaliation. #relationshipadvice #datingtipsforwomen #feminineenergy #knowyourworth
After 5 years and our life together had gone to hell and he had cheated with a million different women he said that the reason he was treating me that way was because he resented something that happened during our first year together and it was something he literally agreed not to do.

I just treat him like he treats me. He doesn't seem to like it much. Ive suggested that when he treats me better I will, in turn, start treating him better. Meh. Its in his court & I really dont give a Single F anymore. 😐

The progress of the relationship deteriorating after the first time you set a boundary saying no when you’re “not in the mood”… the reaction to that makes it feel unsafe to set that boundary and results in permanently killing the mood.

clocked this in a very specific way. went on a bit of healing journey - sought mental health care in the form of talk therapy and medication. obvi i started acting different during treatment, and yeah, i was probably difficult. i was doin some hard work. but that retaliation from my spouse came in the form of intentionally stealing my joy, when it was already difficult to locate. for example, went to a concert and was happily singing along to a favored song, and my partner will make efforts to interrupt that moment for me and ruin it. that’s my “punishment”. should probably just take off, but im tired from all this other stuff ive been doing. so instead, i just go get my happy vibes without them. if they wanna try to yuck my yum? they’re just not invited. sorry for the diary entry 💀

if someone says to me now, I am just matching energy... I have blocked or have no contact with them in my life. as a survivor of an abusive, toxic relationship with another woman this is a major red flag in both men and women. in my opinion

They get the boot.. I use to fight them but now that I’m older I don’t have energy for all that. If I’m in a relationship we are a team..

It has been so difficult trying to convey some of the nuanced social interactions that you are articulating beautifully. It is so hard to describe this to people. A lot of terms are very surface level. You do a really incredible job at explaining things that have gone unexplained for so long. 💕✨

This!!! He was listed first on the mortgage for the house we sold at the end of our marriage so he was only one to receive the tax statements I needed for my separate tax return. Since we split, I spend over $50 making copies of everything for his records (the attorney told me he didn’t have a document he needed because he threw that stuff away) and making sure he received the psychiatric care he needed during our separation. I walked on eggshells for a long time wondering what version of him I would be dealing with, especially after we broke up.

so if she says no to sex because something he said made her super uncomfortable right before they started, and he withdraws for the rest of the night, doesn't say anything more that night or the next day, is that retaliation? or is it regulation on his part?
