KEEPING THE WOMB WARM: TOMATO BASIL LENTIL SOUP🍅🌿🍲 A few years ago I visited a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor and one of the first things she told me was to “keep the womb warm” by focusing on soups, stews, and broths, while limiting raw foods and icy cold drinks. In TCM “keeping the womb warm” supports blood flow and circulation, supports the uterine lining for implantation, helps ease painful periods, and cooked foods are overall easier on digestion… So whether you’re on your period, preparing for pregnancy, postpartum, or simply wanting a nourishing meal, I’ll be sharing a soup recipe each week to help keep your body warm🥰 Ingredients (serves 4-6) -1 tbsp cooking fat, I used tallow -2 lbs ground beef (I did 1lb ground beef and 1lb ancestral ground beef) -1 yellow onion, diced -4-5 cloves fresh garlic, minced -1-2 cups cherry tomatoes, sliced
or 1 can crushed tomatoes -1 jar (24oz) tomato sauce -6 cups beef broth -1 cup dried green or brown lentils -handful of fresh basil, chopped -2 tsp Italian seasoning, add more to taste -2 tsp paprika, add more to taste -1/2 tsp red pepper flakes, add more to taste -salt and pepper to taste Instructions -Heat a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the cooking fat and ground beef and cook and break it up -Add the diced onion, garlic, tomatoes, and seasonings and cook for 3–4 minutes -Stir in the beef broth and dried lentils -Bring the soup to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium -Cover with a lid and let it simmer for about 30–40 minutes, or until the lentils are tender. Stir occasionally and add a little extra broth or water if the soup becomes too thick -Turn off the heat and stir in the fresh chopped basil. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed -Store leftovers in fridge for 3-4 days and in freezer for 2-3 months, soup will thicken in fridge Enjoy! Let me know when you make it!💛 #soupseason #healthyrecipes #healthydinnerideas #souprecipes #cyclesyncing
