Whey-free finally. 🍒 One of the hardest things for me to find is a protein bar that checks all three boxes: Good protein. Good ingredients. Actually tastes good. And I specifically wanted more whey-free options. Why? There is an interesting relationship between dairy, whey protein and acne in susceptible people. Whey can influence insulin and IGF-1 signaling, pathways that can affect sebaceous activity and other processes involved in acne. That does NOT mean whey causes acne in everyone, nor do I consider whey inherently inflammatory for every person. But if you're struggling with acne and consuming a whey protein shake or bar every single day, it's one dietary variable worth paying attention to. So I was very curious about these Stars + Honey bars. The flavors alone got me. Raspberry Donut, Mint Cookies & Cream, Blueberry Muffin, Dark Chocolate Coconut, Red Velvet, Iced Lemon Cookie, Espresso Vanilla... I could keep going. I tried Cherry Chocolate Waffle Cone for the first time on camera. 180 calories.
15g protein.
6g fiber.
2g sugar. And they're sweetened with allulose, which is currently one of my preferred sugar alternatives. Most importantly? It actually tasted GOOD. Because the nutrition label doesn't matter very much if the protein bar ends up sitting untouched in your pantry. This is exactly the kind of convenient option I like having around for busy days, travel, after a workout or when I need something better than reaching for a sugary snack. #TikTokshopbacktoschool #ProteinBars #WheyFree #HighProteinSnacks #FunctionalWellness
