🇮🇶Help us! In Iraq, women are allowed to marry as young as nine, and mothers are stripped of custody. If a mother refuses, she is imprisoned, even if the father is unfit to care for the child. Women are also not allowed to divorce their husbands; if they wish to do so, they must pay a sum of money. Furthermore, a husband may cheat on his wife, and she has no right to seek a divorce. Help us! Women are also killed simply for mistakes, and the sentence for the murderer is only three years in prison. Help us!

♀️Iraqi women need help ♀️: Help the women of Iraq whose children are being taken from them! 😭😭😭!!!!!!!!!!!!!!To everyone who has a voice that can be heard, and to everyone who has the ability to do something for women in Iraq and contribute to creating change: Please, help my voice reach women’s rights organizations. Imagine being born into a life that feels like a prison. Imagine being taught that your entire existence is supposed to revolve around a husband and a child — that your worth is measured by how well you please them, how quietly you endure what is unbearable, and how much of yourself you are willing to sacrifice. And then, the very child you devoted your life to can be taken away from you. In my country, women have been given such a narrow space in which to live as human beings. We are expected to be mothers, wives, and caregivers before we are allowed to be individuals with our own dreams, choices, voices, and private lives. And now, even motherhood itself can be taken away from us. How much more must women lose before the world listens to us? Please, hear our voices. Please, help us be seen. And please, do not let Iraqi women continue to disappear behind laws, traditions, and systems that were never truly built to protect them
