@dierdrerae_: health OCD has always been a huge subtype for me. Something I’ve found really helpful is, noticing the exact thoughts I have before the appointment because they’re almost identical to the ones after. “But this time it feels different!” “This time it’s real!” “This is more than just anxiety, it’s intuition!” “What if something really IS wrong and it will cost me my life!?” I had a breast cancer scare a few years ago that came up again at the beginning of this year. In total I had 3 separate appointments and 4 doctors tell me I have *nothing* to worry about. STILL after the EUPHORIA of the 3rd ultrasound results, I went home and within two hours started thinking: “What if they missed something?” “What if I need another opinion in the US? (again)” “What if they’re going to email me later saying they actually DID find something!?” As you can see, they all start with “what if”. So now, any thought I have that starts with that, I’ll IMMEDIATELY slot it into the “ocd” category. Then unless there is a “reality reason” to worry or something tangible, I repeat to myself that it’s “just my ocd voice” not my intuition, gut, or something that’s real A thought is just a thought. And just because the feeling is real, doesn’t mean the thought is 🫶🏻 @NOCD #ocd #MentalHealth
