I don’t think they’re talking about being able to go on expensive vacations or excursions but not going home and wallowing in your own self pity or exhaustion or whatever that is he might be going through but it’s taking the time to sit down to hang out with your kids to go take them to a bookstore or get ice cream or go to the park together go hiking together going to the movies cooking at home, teaching them how to do certain things

My dad would say, the weekend & free time was meant for exploring. If you wait till retirement, you'll be either too old or too sick to enjoy it. I love that my son is well traveled. Have unique experiences to look back on. Life will always be up and downs. Full of routines. Got to stir things up to feel alive ✨️

yeah my husband's parents lived and worked. no travel, simple life 80+ years. Sooo much worse than my father leaving at 7 to God only knows, My mother becoming her destiny an alcoholic, abuser, verbal and physically. A step father that completely ignored your presence and spoke to my mother to tell me something if he had something to say. After they married he still had me and little bro call him MR Riley. He laughed and joked when my brother went to prison, the mo fo is still still alive and my brother isn't. My, out half brother from dear ole dad schmurderedn him.

I do not completely agree with a statement that it is worse than physical, emotional or mental abuse. I do think it can be damaging if a parent isn’t connecting with their child in someway. Connection does not cost any money, and there are several activities apparent for a caregiver can do with a child like hiking, biking, swimming in a creek, walking around the neighborhood, etc. that doesn’t cost any money at all… It’s time that is the most valuable.
