I actually adore how they handled the cheating scandal tho. Gwen reaffirming her love and care for Arthur as they treated her character with the respect she deserves while she got to stand in her choice after Lancelot’s betrayal without dissuading the fact that she did in fact love him at one point. It was all so lovely. I just don’t see the writers being able to convince me Gwen could cheat without a much bigger arc where they made Arthur act so much worse to her (as in the legends). And I don’t see them being able to do that. The one thing we needed tho was an episode dedicated to her finding out that she didn’t actually cheat (imo during her banishment) and her decide if she wants to tell Arthur or not. She needed that bit of control back.

He's so sweet and soft w Gwen and then in the same scene he will tease the shit out of Merlin and it cracks me up! Merlin and Gwen are the ones who call him out on his bullshit, and he appreciates that. Personally big fan of all three of them together bc tbh Gwen and Merlin also have their own dynamic.

theyre such a sweet couple once theyre actually a couple, but i dont like how arthur and gwen get together initially. I think it does a disservice to both of them. Maybe thats just cuz i hate the "woman who has to teach a man to respect people" trope in romance.

I think this might be one of the only shows where I have so many multi ships 😂 they made the show so well that the characters just work so well with being shipped with everyone. like i cant hate any of the ships theyre just all so good.

I LOVED Qwen for how loyal and kind she was but also fierce and brave. I always found it that to me Arthur loved both Merlin and Qwen and never played favorites. I found it strange how in the early days she was being treated brutally…by the fandom.

multishipper here. I ship Gwen and Arthur, Gwen and Merlin, Gwen/Merlin/Arthur, but NEVER just merthur. the fandom ruined it for me, I can't do it. like you said, once Gwen/Arthur got married, the RACIST merthur fans got so mad, that the CANON INTERRACIAL SHIP couldn't even kiss

i LOVED them growing up! gwen was always my favorite and i thought she was so beautiful—when i grew up and entered fandom spaces and discovered people didn’t like her (esp w arthur) i was shocked! dgmw i like merthur but i enjoyed the build up and like many others in this comment section have said: gwen has chemistry with everyone!

what does all this even mean, I'm just finding out about all the weird fan stuff surrounding Merlin and I am appalled at it, why would anyone say or think such horrendous things about such a great show, I don't see how anything about that show made anyone think these things but it saddens me deeply, I love Merlin it's one of my comfort shows and y'all need to stop disrespecting it, with all due respect thank you
