My son was obsessed with Steve Irwin and when he passed away I did the same thing! I warned family not to tell him, we turned the news off etc. Then, one day, my little 4 year old said to me... Mum I've got something awful to tell you. I knew at school but I've not told you because I knew you'd cry, Steve Irwin is dead. 😭 we'd been protecting each other from the sad news! let's hope Steve is cooking a Barbie tea for Dolly and Kenny! 💙🩷 xx

My daughter (4) loves Michael jackson. My sister told her he’s dead 😳 and she wouldn’t stop going on about it for days. One day she turned round and said he’s dancing with her nanna in heaven and I said your right, he is! And it makes me giggle at the thought of her nanna doing Jackson moves 🤣

I actually think you handled it beautifully 🥺🩷 at 5 she doesn’t need a big complicated explanation, and telling her Dolly missed Kenny and went to heaven to sing with him gives her something comforting to understand. The lovely thing is she can still love Dolly exactly the same, listen to all her songs and grow up with her music. Dolly might not be here anymore but everything she gave us still is 🥺🩷
