But it’s also an asset you need to take profits on, because the time horizon for the team to execute on the intended utility, combined with the unlocks, creates too much downward price pressure when conditions get squeezed. Then you’re faced with the lost opportunity cost of sitting in a trade while other assets outperform, simply because they’re smaller, less liquid and have more supply friction. After all, almost everything is indexed against Bitcoin. XRP is 87% correlated with BTC, and if you take the top 20 tokens minus the stablecoins, they’re around 86% correlated. So most of the price action can be explained by simply looking at Bitcoin.
