i'm crying the original comment is SO stupid in the first place like am i missing something 😭😭 "I’ve noticed the individuals who are recovering from this disease have a very different outlook. their language is far more positive" you mean people who are improving from debilitating illness act happier than those declining and suffering???? 😲 I WONDER WHY that's crazy

I find able bodied individuals really want to believe there’s always something else we can do to “save” ourselves (like adjusting our attitude, as if that will do it 😭). It’s wild. Sometimes the best we can do is survive, and that’s okay 🫂

it's so weird that they imply you aren't trying to recover. i have really noticed that you are in so much more light than usual, but then again people without me may not realise how big of a step that is

If a positive attitude could make MEcfs go away I would have been cured 10 years ago. Many people don't even know how sick I was. I was positve I would heal, but I didn't. No! actively trying every alternative treatment for each individual symptom is what helped. Resting and getting rid of stressful stuff. 😐 I truly believe if I had not exercised, told the truth of how I felt and worked on recovery and resting Its would not have taken 10 years to start recovering

I can’t quite remember when you first popped up of my fy but everyone who’s been here for a while including me can definitely see how much you’ve recovered! Thank you as well for your tts and the awareness you spread <3

i also made my own recovery plan because otherwise i would have died. ME recovery does not happen overnight, i had a breakdown because my nervous system could not handle how ‘suddenly’ i improved, and i STILL HAVE ME and i am still fighting every day to improve further

people don't really understand what it looks like for us to recover. like people will tell me to go out and exercise more and i just have to ignore them and know that im doing what's right for me. but people look at me and think im giving in because im working with my body.

I also became more positive once I began to improve. Nowhere near functioning, but housebound. But the 2 years when I was bedbound and there was zero progress - it messes your positivity real good 🙃 people can’t comprehend it.

the "anti-recovery" thing is literally so frustrating 😭 like people really think we just choose to feel like crap?? when my body decides to just crash for no reason, it’s not a choice. i started logging those unpredictable crashes in the Endora app, my little symptom journal, so i can actually show people how my body *really* works instead of just getting judged💝

I can guarantee, 99% of the people with chronic illness who "have a positive outlook" DONT. I was one of those people who "did", and it is all performative, BECAUSE of people like that. we get raked over the coals if we're not their "perfect disabled person" , with includes being positive. many of us are positive upfront and outloud to people, but absolutely not internally. their argument is obviously void.

I've been so positive about recovery, to the point I have been devastated every time it gets worse, because I really thought I'd get better. no amount of positive thinking pulls you out of this

not all of us can just RETURN, to who we were before.
trust we have GRIEVED over it!
we are TRYING!

i genuinely would give anything in the world to get rid of this illness. i will take any of my other conditions over ME. it’s hell, even now my baseline is significantly better it’s still horrendous to live with

I followed you back them, and if anyone ever says anything about you being anti recovery again, tag me and I'll be a fukin witness. you are doing so much better, and im so proud of you, especially as someone who has had to figure out their own health plan (for chronic illnesses, which btw, I do agree with you, it is not the same. I am so thankful I have never been bed bound by my illnesses, and im aware that is because im chronically ill vs having something like ME)

Honestly, the fact that you have recovered as much as you have, gives me hope that my mum who also has this stupid illness can improve from her current severe/very severe state.

we get shamed so much for not “wanting to recover” when doctors don’t let us recover it shouldn’t take years to get on treatment
