If you are dealing with struggles in mental health, I’m going to need you to watch this video in full and read this post because it’s the most important thing I’ve ever written on this silly little app 😉 4 years ago I was in residential treatment for panic disorder (and now, looking back, likely undiagnosed OCD) for a month. This is the first time I’m talking about it online, something I’d never thought I’d do, however I started talking about my mental health journey in the hopes of making at least one person feel less alone and talking about this is honoring that. If you would’ve told me 4 years ago that I would be where I am now I simply wouldn’t believe you. I was the closest I ever was to acting on the big scary thoughts in my head and there’s was simply no way or world in my mind that I could exist without feeling complete and utter terror and despair. It has been nearly 3-4 years since my last panic attack. I had panic attacks for probably about 15 years before that. It gets better. I promise. Since my time in residential treatment, I have -graduated from u of m with my msw -built a client base and a reputation in my community based on helping others -worked through panic attacks -been diagnosed with, got treated for and learned how to manage ocd -have my own house But most importantly -got engaged to and married the love of my life. Someone who has been with me through every step- the highs, lows, and everything in between. So… it gets better. I promise. ***please note this is not therapy and does not replace a therapist, diagnosis or treatment plan #ocdrecovery #panicdisorder #residentialtreatment #MentalHealthAwareness #mentalhealthrecovery
