She was born to be human, and she was meant to remain human for the rest of her life. She wasn’t born to be a vampire like Caroline, for example. But since unfortunately she had to become a vampire, it makes sense to me that Elena as a human would be with Stefan, and Elena as a vampire with Damon, because that way everything fits together perfectly.
