Black Americans were paying taxes in 1955 for busses. Black ppl had to pay bus fares, but they were forced to sit in the back, if the bus became too full, they were forced off to allow white ppl to ride even though the Black ppl had paid. This is what started the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The busses lost so much money that White ppl has to let us sit where we had a right to sit on the bus.
