As a guest I wouldn’t have minded being there while the cleaners cleaned. It’s the same as being in your room at a hotel while the cleaning staff tidies up your room. I’m glad it worked out!

My biggest fear as a guest happened during my vacation last month. I booked for 2027 instead of this year and didn't realize until we were actually about an hour away from our destination. Thankfully, the host had another property, and that guest actually checked out early and they were able to accommodate us! Thankful for all the awesome hosts out there, like you!

I was once asked to check in to my Airbnb late (check in was at 2 pm) because the previous guest locked themselves out and required a lock smith for the situation. So I agreed… we showed up at 8 pm (with a 1 year old) and the Airbnb was NOT cleaned!!! They sent the cleaners who cleaned at 2000 sqft apt in about 45 mins… and there was 0 compensation. We even wrote about it in our review and the host didn’t do a thing!

So did the guests ever say why they arrived early? As repeat guests I think they’d know how things work & that they can’t get in several hours early without notice.

I’d say it’s worse you let someone not connected to a reservation have the code to get it, but apparently you think it’s okay.
