If you miss clinicals, they take you out back and beat the shit out of you. Then you have to write a two page paper on why you missed clinicals.

it's ironic how nurses are the backbone of healthcare but then the students getting into this field are treated like criminals for actually being sick. no compassion at all from the ones who pave the way for future nurses.

One time I was running late to clinicals & had like 2 minutes left to get on the unit, & the elevator was too slow so I ran up 7 flights of stairs & my clinical instructor was waiting at the top counting down the seconds on her watch. I made it right on time.

Literally had to retake (and repay) for 2 classes because of this/forgetting my badge. Graduated a semester late. Was it my fault? Of course. But does my job fire me for being 1min late or forgetting my badge? HELLLLL no, they’d have no employees

in my program at chamberlain my clinical instructor every session always miss the first clinical day which means the students in that group can’t miss a day because the instructor already used the clinical makeup for all of us. it’s different instructors too. also clinical makeup isn’t guaranteed for the student if they miss.

vet student here, we get 1 unexcused/social absence for our first THREE YEARS. as in 1 total in 3 years. this is for any class, lab, clinical, anything at all. it’s ABSURD

I had to go in, while extremely sick, at a CANCER HOSPITAL. Because otherwise I’d be kicked out of the program. So my nurse and clinical instructor (who were way more chill than those running the program) just let me sit in the break room all day. I could have just made it up, and actually got the experience that clinical is supposed to provide. But instead, I missed out on that experience because of archaic rules.

I was severely sick and has a nose bleed on top of it. I still went to clinical. Why they admit me and had the students have their clinical IN MY ROOM 😭😭😭. I still got those hours and didn’t have to make it up

Wasting my one excused absence day from clinical to get an echocardiogram to see how the heart failure is doing. They’re booking over a year out so I don’t want to reschedule, this was scheduled last September. When I didn’t know my clinical schedule. I got told “I need to be responsible and book around clinical and lab times” lol. It’s funny because my clinical is all about chronic health conditions and I’m in heart failure lol

I had a home invasion once, and because forensics were still at the house, I had to call in tardy to my clinical hours. My program director made me send her a photo of me standing in front of the forensics van parked in my driveway to prove it was there. I still got an entire letter grade knocked off my class for the semester.
