Jan’s vocal practice always ended with a quiet room and an aching throat, but her walk down the hallway was what she secretly looked forward to most. The distance between their practice rooms was short—just a dozen paces down a brightly lit corridor. Every day, Jan finished her warm-ups first, packed her bag, and walked past the dance studio. And every day, her eyes naturally drifted toward the glass panel on the door. It started as a quick glance, but soon became an irresistible habit. Jan found herself slowing her pace, lingering just a second too long to watch Jingjing move. Jingjing was mesmerizing through the narrow window—turning, leaping, and sweating through choreography, completely absorbed in her element. Sometimes Jan stood there for minutes, captivated, before snapping back to reality and rushing off before anyone caught her. Until today. When Jan walked down the familiar hall, the studio was dark and quiet. Disappointment hit her suddenly. Taking a step closer to the window, she peered through the glass, looking for a specific person in the shadows. There was no one inside.

"Looking for me?" Jan startled, her heart leaping into her throat as a voice whispered right behind her. She spun around, her cheeks burning. "A-ah, no..." Before she could make an excuse, Jingjing wrapped her fingers firmly around Jan’s wrist. With a knowing smile, she pulled Jan straight into the empty dance room. The door clicked shut behind them, cutting off the corridor's hum. Without letting go of Jan’s hand, Jingjing drew the heavy black curtains across the glass panels to block out the hallway entirely. She snapped off the bright overhead lights and switched on the crimson LED strips lining the mirrors. The room transformed instantly into a dim, intimate sanctuary bathed in deep red light. Jingjing grabbed a single chair, placed it in the center of the floor, and guided Jan down to sit. "Since you’re always watching from the hallway," Jingjing whispered, her eyes catching the glow of the red lights, "I thought you deserved a better view." She finally let go of Jan's hand, stepping back into the center of the room as a bass-heavy R&B track began to play. Jan gripped the edges of the seat, her throat dry. Sitting here, bathed in red, Jingjing’s presence was overwhelming. Jingjing moved with liquid grace. Her body hit every beat with sharp precision, her shoulders rolling as she traced the rhythm down her spine. Every fluid movement, every drop of sweat, and every lingering glance was directed entirely at Jan. Stepping closer, Jingjing dropped low, her movements bringing her inches from where Jan sat. She tilted her head, a playful, confident smile tugging at her lips as Jan’s breath hitched. When the music slowed, Jingjing leaned down, placing one hand on the armrest, trapping Jan gently in place. "Still going to pretend you weren't looking for me?" Jingjing asked softly. Jan looked up into her dark eyes reflecting the crimson light. The lie died in her throat, and she slowly shook her head. Jingjing let out a quiet, satisfied laugh, stepping back to let the rhythm carry her through the rest of the dance, leaving Jan completely spellbound in the middle of the dark red room. #janjingjingau #janjingjing #jingjingyu #janhae #AU
