Attorney here. My Silent Gen mom taught me early on to never be a SAHM and ALWAYS have your own money.

That's why when my husband and I decided for me to become a sahm, we talked about making sure my future taken care of. He pays me $1,000 a month to put into my investments and my name is on the house, the cars, and everything else. It's not much but at least it gives me peace of mind to know I'm able to put money aside for myself.

If you were married for 10 years you should be entitled to 1/2 of his SS and maybe his pension.

I never understood why a woman wouldn’t at least work part time after all the kids are in school

SAHM’s deserve something!!! I agree! I’ve always said the amount of time I’ve spent volunteering especially in schools it’s frustrating

I've worked pretty much my whole life. I had a short period of time where I stayed home with my kids but not very long. I've got retirement and benefits/ Insurance till the day I die. my mortgage is paid off and my vehicles are paid off. I have a little bit of debt that I'm trying to pay off. So I'm thinking by the end of this year I'll be able to retire. I'm not married. Single and looking forward to retiring alone and doing what I want.

Mid life is 35-40 yrs old. Because the average age of death is 73-75 years old. Maybe 80

Hey sisters :
My husband and I both have life insurance. We have been together 21 years. I have also been an at home parent this time. I have saved money ,, so that way I stopped the anxiety of not having my own money. And I have already talked about the subjects of VA disability survivors benefits as well as SS

We have retirement accounts and I have multiple paid off properties in our name, why would I be worried about social security, I don’t know if it will be around in 25 more years

You’ve got the right attitude!! I wanted to stay at home all my professional career. But as I got older and real life came at me, watched other SATM in your position I’m so glad I stayed employed (and loved my profession). I hope young women see this and reconsider their choices.

Not 50, but soon to be 40 in the next few months and have been a SAHM for over 10 years. I'm on day 12 of consistently posting content and just ordered my first product to create content for TikTok Shop. Using social media not only to gain personal financial security, but to fund our future farm. We are getting ready to sell our current house, move 2500 miles away from anyone & everything we've ever known, buy property, and start a farm. 💗💗💗
