@lusciousluchi: I finally decided to jump on this trend of using AI to create a picture of what I would have looked like back in the ’80s. 😂 And honestly… I wasn’t prepared for the nostalgia that came with it! 🥹❤️ I uploaded my picture, told ChatGPT to give me an unmistakable 1980s look, and this was the result. The enormous hair. The bold shoulders. The statement earrings. The glamorous makeup. The bright colours. The whole “I have arrived!” energy. 😂💃🏾 And looking at the picture, I suddenly found myself thinking about my childhood and those old family photo albums. Growing up, there was something so fascinating about looking through my parents’ pictures from when they were younger. I would flip through those albums and see my parents and their friends looking so fashionable! 😂 The men with their Afro hairstyles, some with neat side partings, stylish shirts, palazzo trousers, and of course, the ever-present pappaz cap. 😄 And the women? Oh, they were giving GLAM! 💅🏾 Beautiful dresses, fabulous hairstyles, accessories, makeup and poses that said, “Please, take the picture properly because this one is going in the album!” 😂 Back then, they didn’t have Instagram, TikTok or AI to recreate their younger selves. The photo album was the archive. 📸❤️ And somehow, looking at this AI-generated version of myself made me realise something… One day, my children will be the ones looking through my old pictures. They’ll probably laugh at some of my outfits 😂, admire others, and hopefully say: “Mummy was actually so beautiful!” 😍 Or… “Mummy was really stylish back in the day!” 😂 And that thought made me appreciate the importance of preserving memories even more. Because life moves so quickly. Our children are growing. We are growing. Styles change. Seasons change. And one day, today’s ordinary pictures will become tomorrow’s precious memories. So yes, I jumped on the ’80s AI trend for a bit of fun… But it ended up taking me on a beautiful little trip down memory lane and reminding me that our pictures are more than just pictures.
