5 News Political Editor Andy Bell stumbled backwards after security intervened on Friday and pulled him out of the way as he quizzed Nigel Farage in the aftermath of an undercover sting that led to two senior Reform UK officials losing their jobs. Mr Farage's senior aide Dan Jukes and Reform's head of policy, James Orr have been stood down pending the outcome of an internal inquiry, the party said on Friday following the Channel 4 News report. The channel claimed Reform took funding from a US firm for three polls it commissioned earlier this year costing £32,500. The purported donors were in fact undercover reporters from investigative group Verbatim posing as an American financier and his UK-based son. Mr Jukes and Mr Orr were both implicated in the allegations. Mr Farage has insisted the party has “done nothing wrong, taken no illegal money” and dismissed suggestions his party had previously taken disguised foreign donations as “loose pub talk” that “simply were not true”. Approaching Mr Farage at the Reform UK party conference in Birmingham, Mr Bell asked how “painful” it was to sack Mr Jukes after “all these years”, to which the party leader said, “not much fun”. He then asked if there was a “way back for Dan”. Mr Farage: “Well, let’s see what the investigation finds.” At that point security guards pulled Mr Bell out of the way and he briefly lost his footing, stumbling backwards, as Mr Farage carried on.
