Thousands of dead fish have washed up on a beach in Japan, officials stated on Friday. On Thursday morning, sardines and some mackerel piled onto Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost main island, creating a sliver blanket along a kilometre-long stretch of one of Hokadate’s beaches. The phenomenon comes 3 months after radioactive waste from Fukushima’s nuclear power plant was released into the water, however Japanese officials haven’t given any explanation for why this phenomenon has occurred.
