@bengirish_: 15 years of marriage 🤍 It sounds like such a long time when you say it out loud… but somehow it also feels like we blinked and ended up here. 15 years of growing up together, building a life together, raising our babies, building businesses, making mistakes, figuring things out as we went and choosing each other through every version of ourselves. We came from two completely different cultures, two different backgrounds and two different worlds and instead of asking one another to give up who we were, we made space for both. Over the years our cultures have become so intertwined that sometimes I forget where one ends and the other begins. The food, the family, the weddings, the traditions, the language, the chaos 😂… it has all just become our life. People see 15 years and sometimes assume that means we’ve had the perfect marriage. We haven’t. We’ve been through hard times, especially when we were younger. We’ve disagreed, struggled, grown and changed but through it all there has always been love, loyalty, friendship and a determination to keep choosing one another. And Alhamdulillah, when I look at what we’ve built together, I’m so grateful. 🥹 Two kids. A home. Businesses. A million memories. A beautiful mixture of two cultures. And a friendship that, after all these years, is still my favourite part of our marriage. We were just two people whose paths crossed 15 years ago with absolutely no idea where life was going to take us.
