Alright let’s see… lately I’ve been having dreams every night involving situations with my family I went no contact with. When I wake up it affects me because their presence in a dream felt so real and sometimes the scenarios have me so upset, hurt, and angry. I realized that maybe I keep having these dreams because I still need to grieve, and feel. scenarios keep popping up that remind me of why I left, but also ones that make me feel doubt about leaving. So I go back to my practice of viewing every single thing- and I mean EVERYTHING symbol setting people objects etc- as an aspect of me trying to convey something within myself. And when I do that, I learn so much about myself and it helps me process the very emotions that arise. Like me having a dream where I’m back in that environment and walking on eggshells, sometimes in the dream itself I think “wait, what am I doing?” And then it shifts to a part where I’m not interacting with that person anymore. I could take it in a way that’s like “ugh why does she keep showing up she’s haunting me I hate this” but with the way I view the dream it’s more like “okay this represents the part of me that still wishes to be around her, but knows that it isn’t healthy and the dream changed the setting once I recognized it”. Framing is so important and I feel like bringing it into every aspect of life has helped me.

I like to think that I learn something new every day. So I was talking with a patient of mine a couple days ago and she told me her mother smoked rabbit tobacco. I had no idea what it was and so we googled it together and to find out it was a flowering plant that native Americans would smoke. It had a very pleasant smell, but there was absolutely zero tobacco in it. She had always considered that her mother smoked tobacco and therefore she also smoked tobacco, and so it was an eye-opening moment for her to realize that her habit came from a myth that she had believed about her mother‘s habit. Is this an interesting story is this something people would be able to listen to for more than two seconds does it even matter?
