The only reason they want to tokenize stocks is for the transaction fees. Robinhood doesn’t sell the underlying stock when you sell the token. But when you sell a token there will be a transaction fee. Rinse and repeat, Robinhood will have a negative cost-basis on the underlying stock eventually. Public companies are concerned that Robinhood or other tokenized-stock brokers would be majority holders of their company (with voting rights!). I also wonder what the implications to free-float are and only being able to buy stocks through a broker rather than an exchange.
